Let's put all that ugliness behind us and move forward. Thanks for the story about realizing shirt lady, Joel. It's important for us to recognize when we do not realize, and to share realizations of our non-realizing with each other.

I'd like to discuss someone else who does NOT realize. Here are some hints. She makes the love to this man (whose appeal is apparent), she still can't form a complete sentence in English after 8 years of living in this country, and the new and improved name of her restaurant is........ Jiner's Chiner Diner? Jine's Chine Gine? Something like that. Yes, it's my step-mom-in-law Jiana! We are well aware of her non-realizing ways. Awhile ago she brought over some shoes for Maddie. I guess they were too small for Jiana, or she just didn't want them any longer? I'm not sure the reason for this bounteous gift, but check these beauties out.

The Trekkie

The Streetwalker

K, first of all, are they BUTT UGLY enough?? And secondly, are those the shoes that a 10-year-old should wear, because I'm thinking that they are. Maddie is not old enough to realize just how neat these shoes are, so she's constantly trying to wear them places. My favorite was when she was going to church in her white dress and white tights, and she decided the Trekkie was the best choice to complete her ensemble. When we go to the grocery store, she often decides the Streetwalker is her best out-in-public-walking-around look. I don't know why I haven't thrown them away yet. I really need to

them as soon as possible. It was a nice gesture Jiana, but really - you just don't realize.

DESTROY.

Is what you should do to those shoes.

Or wear them.

Those shoes appear to be somehow related to the most realizing band of all time, El Destroyo. I saw them open for The Violent Femmes several years ago and there was more realizing going on in that theater than I had ever been a party to before, both on and off stage. El Destroyo realizing how to make good music and the audience realizing just how much we could enjoy El Destroyo. We also realized they had an aptitude for choosing a band name.

El Destroyo is a poor poor name for a band.
